Spider-Man: Far From Home May Be Bringing Back Another Longtime MCU Character
However Spider-Man's fate post-Avengers: Infinity War is resolved in Avengers 4 next year, one thing is certain: two months after the final Marvel Cinematic Universe installment hits theaters, Web-Head will be swinging back into action for his second standalone movie set in this continuity. Although Spider-Man: Far From Home will see Peter Parker vacationing in Europe with his friends, there will be some familiar faces from other corners MCU popping in. Last month we learned that Nick Fury and Maria Hill will be gracing the sequel, and now it looks like we can also expect Happy Hogan to return as well.
A Spider-Man: Far From Home set video from London has surfaced on Reddit that appears to show a scene involving Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan talking with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill. Given how far away the set is, it's hard to tell with 100% certainty if this is indeed what's being shot, although upon zooming in, it certainly looks like Happy is in that scene judging by the suit, his traditional outfit of choice. Of course, Happy showing up in a Spider-Man movie is hardly strange given his supporting role in Spider-Man: Homecoming last year, and since he and Peter Parker have established a rapport, Peter will presumably be glad to see Happy if/when they cross paths.
When we last saw Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: Homecoming, he had thanked Peter Parker for stopping Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture, from stealing Tony Stark's weaponry and brought the teen to the New Avengers Facility for another meeting with Tony Stark. What's especially interesting about Happy's inclusion in Spider-Man: Far From Home is that as far as we know, Avengers 4 could be Robert Downey Jr's last appearance in the MCU as Iron Man. We'll have to wait until Avengers 4 comes out to learn what happens to Tony, but it begs the question of whether Happy is somehow representing the goateed Avenger in Far From Home or is involved in another capacity. I'm also curious why Happy would be chatting with Nick Fury and Maria Hill, although no doubt it's related to Spider-Man's latest crimefighting shenanigans.
Aside from Peter Parker venturing across the pond for Spider-Man: Far From Home, all we know about the sequel's story so far is that it will involve the Web-Slinger tangling with Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio, who Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly playing. Far From Home's other returning performers include Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Battalion, Tony Revolori and Hemky Madera, while the new additions include J.B. Smoove, Numan Acar, Oli Hill and Remy Hii.
