Is Star Wars New Character Jannah Lando Calrissians Daughter? Heres What Naomi Ackie Says

While the number of questions regarding how things will end for our heroes in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are nearly infinite, Rey, Finn and Poe aren't the only characters we wonder about. Naomi Ackie has been added to the cast as an all new character, and we know essentially nothing about her, except her character's name, Jannah.

Naomi Ackie and Jannah were introduced to the crowd at the recent Star Wars Celebration in Chicago and panel moderator Stephen Colbert asked Ackie about rumors that Jannah might actually be the daughter of Lando Calrissian. As one might expect, Ackie didn't really answer the question, but she also didn't not answer the question. It's certainly possible that Jannah could be Lando's daughter, because Lando probably has a lot of daughters, and sons too. According to the actress...

Listen, Lando is a charming man, so he could have children all over the universe.

The Star Wars Celebration panel was very focused on making sure that no details about The Rise of Skywalker were revealed beyond those details that were planned to be released. We got a single still shot of the character of Jannah, but nothing beyond that, meaning that we have no idea how she fits into the story. About all we can guess is that since she was on the SWC stage in the first place, she's important.

The idea that Jannah could be Lando Calrissian's daughter is given some strength simply due to the fact that Lando himself is returning for the final episode of the new trilogy. We don't know anything as far as that character goes either. Where he's been or why he's back now is a mystery.

Based on the simple still image of Jannah, if she is Lando's daughter, she hasn't really taken after her father, one wonders if he actually raised her. Lando is always looking quite suave and that's not the vibe we're getting from Jannah here. Whatever she's up to, she's getting her hands dirty.

In the same way that Rey being a Skywalker or a Kenobi seemed a little too on the nose, I doubt Jannah is a Calrissian. It's simply unlikely that there's a need for such a connection to exist and Jannah being somebody else, anybody else, helps to expand the galaxy in a new way, which has clearly been part of the goal for this trilogy.

Odds are that if we knew who Jannah really was it would just create more questions. The big answer we were all waiting for, the film's title, certainly does that. Nobody knows what The Rise of Skywalker really means, though we all have our theories, which is the point. Jannah's history can be another topic of conversation that should keep fans busy until the new trilogy comes to a close this December.

The Cool Throwback Wedding Photo E.L. James Shared From The Set Of Fifty Shades Freed

We're a couple of months out from the release of the third and final Fifty Shades movie hitting theaters. Fifty Shades Freed wrapped up the story of one Anastasia Steele and one Christian Grey in a way that should have been satisfying to fans. Now, ahead of the movie's Blu-ray, DVD and Digital release, E.L. James has shared a behind-the-scenes photo that gives us another glimpse at the reception of Ana and Christian. Check it out.

Early on in Fifty Shades Freed, the fans get to see moments from Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey's wedding, including the ceremony itself and various moments from their reception, as well. It all goes by pretty fast, and I'm sure many fans would have loved if they movie had given us a more in-depth look at the ceremony and more. However, the movie in general is fast-paced and there was plenty of stalking and dangerous antics that needed to be looked into, and since E.L. James' trilogy doesn't cover the wedding at all, it was really fan service to even get the scene above.

Luckily, if you were quite fond of the wedding stuff that we got, there will be more on the way. The Blu-ray and Digital releases alike will have a whole set of features known as "The Final Climax," because of course. One of those featurettes will focus on "The Wedding," which will take a look at the gown, the flowers and the venue. Universal evens says the movie had custom floral arrangements, so if you are basically hoping to mimic Fifty Shades Freed during your own wedding, you should soon have the tools. A whole separate featurette will give you a much closer look at the honeymoon, as well. So, if you cared more about the honeymoon yacht, you should be able to take a good look. Word is still out on whether we'll ever get to see the full-frontal nudity that was shot, but I'm going to go ahead and venture to guess it'll be a 'no.'

Although the Fifty Shades movies clearly have a fanbase, E.L. James stopped Ana and Christian's adventures after Fifty Shades Freed. She did write a book based on Christian's perspective, but it covers the same events as her earlier trilogy. With that in mind, the adventures of Christian and Ana may be at an end, and series lead Jamie Dornan seems fine with that transpiring. He previously said he and Dakota Johnson were aging out of the roles, anyway, noting,

I don't think there's any chance. I mean, there's no other books. Erika wrote the first two books from Christian's perspective, but I guess we've already seen, done those films -- the same stories -- so they won't do that again. Unless Erika keeps writing; but, Dakota and I, particularly me, are getting too old for this.

So, there may not be more from these characters coming, but you'll always be able to relive your favorite relationship moments when Fifty Shades Freed officially hits Digital on April 24. In addition, the Blu-ray and DVD release will follow on May 8. If you loved the movie or still want to check it out, you can pre-order your copy, here.

These days, it seems every celebrity who wants to be in Star Wars can do it. However, it seems that it wasn't always so easy to get into a Star Wars movie, as Emma Thompson says she once tried, and got turned down.Playing a game for Wired alongside her Late Night co-star Mindy Kaling, the pair answered questions created by Google autofill queries. One of the answers people apparently have been searching for is whether or not Emma Thompson was in Star Wars. In response the actress revealed that, while she's not in the franchise, it's not for lack of trying...My agent actually said to the last people who were making the last Star Wars, I get very confused because obviously there's so many spinoff-y things, and they said, 'Well, ya know, she'd be really interested in being in Star Wars,' because I actually really like Star Wars. And they said no. Im not in Star Wars because they dont want me to be in Star Wars.It's not entirely clear from Emma Thompson's comments exactly when she tried to be in Star Wars, when referring to "the last Star Wars" she could be talking about a previous film in the recent series, but the reference to the "last people" might mean she's actually talking about the prequel era. It doesn't really matter. One thing is clear, if somebody told Emma Thompson they didn't need her in a Star Wars movie then clearly somebody is out of their damn mind.I feel like, whatever movie you're making, if Emma Thompson is interested, you figure out a way to make it work. If I'm David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the pair currently working on the next Star Wars movie following The Rise of Skywalker, then I'm figuring out which role in my new movie is best for Emma Thompson and penciling in her name right now. The good news is that, while the Star Wars franchise will be taking a bit of a break on the big screen, we're certainly not going to be lacking for opportunities anytime soon. Between new movies and Disney+ series and animated shows and whatever else Lucasfilm can come up with, there will plenty of chances for Emma Thompson, or anybody else who's interested, to become part of the galaxy far, far, away.
